FL Sees 10K New Cases, Again Breaks Deaths Record

The Miami Herald reports:

The Florida Department of Health announced 9,956 new cases of COVID-19 in the state on Thursday, bringing the total number of coronavirus cases in the state to 461,379 since the pandemic began.

The number of reported deaths of Florida residents surpassed Wednesday’s single-day record increase, setting a record of 253 new deaths reported in a single day. COVID-19 deaths in Florida are at 6,586 for Florida residents since the pandemic began.

Florida is the largest state in the country without some form of a statewide mask mandate. Reuters reported Thursday that the Miami-area school district, the fourth-largest in the nation, will not immediately return students to classrooms when schools open for the academic year in a few week.
