Pelosi Clamps Down After Defiant GOP House Rep Gets COVID: Sergeant At Arms To Bar Maskless House Reps

The New York Daily News reports:

The Boss says wear a mask — or stay out of the people’s house. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is laying down the law when it comes to face coverings in the House of Representatives during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Democratic leader has issued an order requiring all lawmakers to wear masks in committee hearings, which are often held in smaller rooms where social distancing is not practical.

Pelosi said she has ordered the Sergeant at Arms to enforce the rule strictly and to deny entry to any violators. The edict comes after Republican Rep. Tom Rice (R-South Carolina) announced he and several family members have contracted the COVID-19 virus.

Rice had refused to wear a mask at House meetings.
