OK State Supreme Court Refuses To Stop Trump Rally

Tulsa’s ABC News affiliate reports:

The Oklahoma Supreme Court on Friday denied a lawsuit to enforce health measures and social distancing amid coronavirus concerns at President Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Tulsa on Saturday. The President’s campaign team said a million tickets have been requested for the event.

With the large crowds expected, attorneys Clark Brewster and Paul DeMuro filed a lawsuit, claiming the rally will endanger the health of thousands. DeMuro argued coronavirus cases across the state have spiked since June, fearing the President’s rally on Saturday will result in more deaths from COVID-19.

The Oklahoma Supreme Court handed down the decision Friday afternoon to decline the request, saying in the court document that, “petitioners cannot establish the necessary elements for a writ of mandamus, specifically that petitioners possess a clear legal right to the relief they seek.”
