NEW YORK: Gov. Cuomo To End Daily COVID Briefings

NPR reports:

Governor Andrew Cuomo said Wednesday that he will hold his last daily coronavirus briefing on Friday. He’s held them, mostly in Albany but also at locations across the state, for more than 115 consecutive days since the coronavirus pandemic began.

Cuomo made the announcement at his daily briefing Wednesday in Albany. He said he would hold more on an as-needed basis. “We have climbed the mountain,” Cuomo said, comparing the spike in COVID-19 cases starting in March to “a mountain in the clouds, with a top we couldn’t see.”

There were only 567 new coronavirus cases among the 59,341 New Yorkers who were tested for coronavirus Tuesday — a record low positivity rate of 0.96%.
