The Sacramento Bee reports:
Gov. Gavin Newsom ordered bars to close in seven California counties Sunday because of escalating coronavirus rates, and recommended closures in eight others, including Sacramento.
Bar closures are required in Los Angeles, Fresno, Imperial, Kern, Kings, San Joaquin and Tulare. Bar closures are recommended for Sacramento, Contra Costa, Riverside, San Bernardino, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Stanislaus and Ventura.
Closures are mandated in counties that have been on the state’s COVID-19 watch list for more than two weeks. Newsom is recommending but not requiring closures in counties that have been on the watch list for at least three days but not a full two weeks.
NEW: @GavinNewsom is ordering closure of bars for counties on the state’s Covid “watchlist,” as infection rates soar across California. Hospitals in some areas are beginning to fill up and the state is seeing double-digit increases in hospitalizations & ICU patients.

Newsom: “Californians must remain vigilant against this virus. COVID-19 is still circulating in California and in some parts of the state, growing stronger… It is critical we take this step to limit the spread of the virus in the counties that are seeing the biggest increases.”
