The Houston Chronicle reports:
Just after sunrise, several Texas families decided to make an early start to be the first in line at Big Rivers Waterpark in New Caney. “Boy, it was wild,” guest Anthony Welsh said. “We’ve been waiting in line since 7:30 a.m. They wouldn’t let anybody move until about 10 a.m.”
Right outside the gate, crowds gathered close together in lines, without much caution to social distancing. Approximately 1,300 people gathered near the water park’s entrance early Saturday morning, according to ABC-13.
The park’s opening was in actual defiance of Gov. Greg Abbott’s order, as water parks were ordered to remain closed across the state.
No masks, no social distancing as thousands attend this Montgomery Co water park, opened in defiance of state orders. Pure greed and recklessness. This is how TX loses against the virus. Enforce the law, @GregAbbott_TX . https://t.co/YosNwdmDZU
