The Hill reports:
President Trump on Sunday blasted Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker and media outlets after the Democrat said the federal government had left state governments to compete for resources to respond to the coronavirus pandemic.
The tweet came after Pritzker said on CNN’s “State of the Union” that states were overpaying for personal protective equipment. Pritzker told the network that rather than a competition, it “should have been a coordinated effort by the federal government.”
Trump has repeatedly hit back at Democratic governors who have criticized the federal response to the virus, including Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D), whom he called “the failing Michigan governor” last week.
.@JBPritzker, Governor of Illinois, and a very small group of certain other Governors, together with Fake News @CNN & Concast (MSDNC), shouldn’t be blaming the Federal Government for their own shortcomings. We are there to back you up should you fail, and always will be!

If the Governor of Illinois is complaining about shortcomings or lack of help from the federal government, maybe the best thing to do is pick up the phone, call the governor, and ask what help and assistance he needs to help the people of Illinois. We’re all in this together.

But the President of the United States going to Twitter and attacking everyone is unnerving and does not project confidence nor leadership to the American people. This is especially demoralizing during an emergency like the coronavirus pandemic. We need leadership not bullying.

You’re not supposed to be backing people up. You’re supposed to be leading this effort. That’s what the President is supposed to do. Governors are leading because you won’t. Resign if this is too hard for you, but for God’s sake stop making excuses.
