CBS News reports:
Americans will have an extra three months to file their taxes this year after President Donald Trump ordered the Treasury Department to move Tax Day to July 15. The move comes just days after the Treasury secretary said it would defer $300 billion in payments to the Internal Revenue Service due to hardship brought on by the coronavirus pandemic. The deferment allows individuals to delay payments of up to $1 million and companies to delay payments up to $10 million without penalties or fees for 90 days.
At @realDonaldTrump’s direction, we are moving Tax Day from April 15 to July 15. All taxpayers and businesses will have this additional time to file and make payments without interest or penalties.
