McConnell To Rebuke Schumer For SCOTUS Comments

Politico reports:

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell plans to take to the Senate floor this morning to go after Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer for saying Supreme Court justices would “pay the price” for anti-abortion rulings.

On Wednesday, Schumer said this outside the Supreme Court, as justices considered a case about limiting abortion in Louisiana: “I want to tell you, Gorsuch, I want to tell you, Kavanaugh: You have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price. You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.”

Chief Justice John Robers rebuked Schumer, saying the comments were “not only inappropriate, they are dangerous.”

A statement like this is understandable from the Chief Justice. Or it would be. But it’s comical after the silence in response numerous, aggressive comments from the President targeting specific judges, even repeatedly attacking named members of the Supreme Court. https://t.co/QSWz8kI2ae

Roberts’ rebuke would be more credible if he had issued a similar rebuke when Trump demanded RBG and Sotomayor recuse themselves from “Trump related matters,” insisted that RBG resign, attacked Judge Amy Berman Jackson in the Stone case, and threatened the entire 9th circuit. https://t.co/dFmSIzEFIN
