IRAN: Seventh Member Of Govt Succumbs To Virus

The Middle East Eye reports:

A recently elected Iranian member of parliament died on Saturday from the novel coronavirus, state news agency IRNA has reported. Fatemeh Rahbar, 55, was a conservative MP from the capital Tehran who was elected in last month’s general election.

Her party won the most seats in a vote that was marred by the lowest turnout in the Isladmic Republic’s history. Iranian media reported on Friday that Rahbar had gone into coma due to the virus. Iran is the third most affected country from the virus, with 5,823 cases and 145 deaths reported.

Rahbar is the seventh Iranian official to die. At least 23 Iranian MPs have reportedly tested positive.
