The New York Times reports:
President Trump sought on Saturday to more aggressively address the coronavirus after weeks of confusion over his administration’s response, urging public calm and issuing new foreign travel warnings and restrictions. Mr. Trump presided over an abruptly announced news conference in the White House briefing room, at which Vice President Mike Pence announced that the administration was issuing its highest-level warning against travel to areas of Italy and South Korea most affected by the virus.
The United States is also banning all travel from Iran, and barring entry to any foreign citizen who has visited that country in the last 14 days. There will also be additional screenings of travelers coming from Italy and South Korea. Aiming to calm the public after the worst week for the stock market since 2008, Mr. Trump said that “healthy individuals” in the United States “should be able to fully recover” from the coronavirus, but did not say what the risks might be for people with prior health conditions.
