Facebook announced Friday that it would cancel a summit it had planned to hold at San Francisco’s Moscone Center in March. “Out of an abundance of caution, we canceled our Global Marketing Summit due to evolving public health risks related to coronavirus,” Anthony Harrison, a Facebook spokesman, said.

The annual event brings together Facebook employees from around the world. It was due to take place this year from March 9-12.

The social media giant is not alone. Earlier in the week, the Mobile World Congress, the world’s largest mobile phone summit, was canceled due to travel disruptions and panic around the outbreak. The event had been sceduled to start on Feb. 24.
