The Rising reports:
Seventeen percent of Republican voters support President Trump’s impeachment and say he should be removed from office, according to a Hill-HarrisX poll released Monday.
The figure in the Jan. 8-9 survey marks a 3 percentage point increase from a similar poll conducted in late October. The share of Democratic voters who favor impeachment stood at 80 percent, down 1 point from October, while independents who backed impeachment ticked up 1 point to 42 percent.
The latest survey comes as the Senate prepares for Trump’s impeachment trial. After a weeks-long standoff with Republicans on the rules of the upcoming Senate trial, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is expected to send the two articles of impeachment — abuse of power and obstruction of Congress — to the upper chamber later this week.
