Wife Of US Diplomat Charged In Fatal UK Hit-And-Run

The Guardian reports:

The wife of a US intelligence officer has been charged with causing the death by dangerous driving of the 19-year-old motorcyclist Harry Dunn, the Crown Prosecution Service has announced.

Anne Sacoolas was flown out of the UK by the US embassy days after the fatal collision in late August, with the US claiming she was covered by diplomatic immunity,

A file on the evidence was handed to the CPS on 1 November and there has been no dispute that Sacoolas was driving a car on the wrong side of the road when it hit Dunn.

Sky News reports:

The mother of a teenager who died in a collision said “I carried out my promise” after the wife of a US diplomat was charged with causing his death by dangerous driving.

Charlotte Charles and Tim Dunn, the parents of 19-year-old Harry Dunn, were informed of the charge by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) on Friday.

Footage broadcast exclusively on Sky News showed Mrs Charles and Mr Dunn hugging and in tears after they learned charges would be brought yesterday.
