Trump Tells Jewish Group: “You’re Not Nice People” But You Will Vote For Me To Protect Your Money [VIDEO]

The Times Of Israel reports:

US President Donald Trump told a pro-Israel conference Saturday night that some American Jews don’t love Israel enough. He also noting that he did not have to worry about getting his audience’s votes, because they would cast ballots with business interests in mind.

Those comments, to the Israeli American Council advocacy group in Florida, drew quick criticism from opponents and were derided as anti-Semitic. In his 45-minute speech to an audience of over 4,300, the president criticized American Jews who, he said, were not sufficiently supportive of the Jewish state.

Later, Trump told an anecdote about people saying that he wouldn’t step down after a second term. “So now we have to start thinking about that, because it’s not a bad idea,” Trump said. The audience responded with chants of “12 more years.”

The Washington Post reports:

The ballroom address, coupled with a private speech to GOP activists a few miles away, were designed to buttress his support in Florida, highlight his popularity among conservative Jewish voters and pay homage to Sheldon Adelson, the billionaire casino magnate and megadonor to Trump.

The president regularly mentioned Adelson throughout his remarks. “How did that happen, Sheldon?” Trump said at one point, with Adelson offstage. Adelson is a regular adviser to the president and a major supporter of the GOP.

The president’s approval rating is 29 percent among Jewish voters nationwide, according to a Gallup survey from the summer, but was far higher in the room, where he was regularly interrupted by chants of “Four More Years.”

Haaretz reports:

The Israeli American Council is financially backed by one of Trump’s top supporters, the husband-and-wife duo of Miriam and Sheldon Adelson, a Las Vegas casino magnate. Both Adelsons appeared on stage to introduce Trump, with Dr. Miriam Adelson asserting that Trump “has already gone down in the annals of Jewish history, and that is before he’s even completed his first term in office.”

The Adelsons donated $30 million to Trump’s campaign in the final months of the 2016 race. They followed up by donating $100 million to the Republican Party for last November’s congressional elections. Trump’s entourage at the event included Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson, along with Republican Reps. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Michael Waltz (R-Fla.), whom he described as “two warriors” defending him against “oppression” in the impeachment inquiry.
