Alleged War Criminal SEAL Accuses US Navy Brass Of Insubordination In Fox Appearance Promoted By Trump

Rupert Murdoch’s New York Post reports:

Navy SEAL Eddie Gallagher thanked President Trump for intervening in his war crimes case and said top brass in the elite commando unit are retaliating against him. “I’m overjoyed he stepped in again, being the leader he is,” Gallagher told “Fox & Friends” during an interview on Sunday. “It’s all about retaliation.”

Trump tweeted about Gallagher’s case last Thursday, declaring the SEAL’s trident pin would not be taken away. “The Navy will NOT be taking away Warfighter and Navy SEAL Eddie Gallagher’s Trident Pin,” the president posted. “This case was handled very badly from the beginning. Get back to business!”

The Associated Press reports:

The secretary of the U.S. Navy said he doesn’t consider a tweet by President Donald Trump an order and would need a formal order to stop a review of a sailor who could lose his status as a Navy SEAL.

“I need a formal order to act,” Navy Secretary Richard Spencer said Saturday. Of Trump’s tweets, “I don’t interpret them as a formal order.”

Spencer, speaking on the sidelines of the Halifax International Security Forum in Canada, said if the president requests the process to stop, the process stops. “Good order and discipline is also obeying the orders of the president of the United States,” he said.
