The Guardian reports:
Authorities in Spain have ordered a man to pay a hefty fine after he was caught throwing a refrigerator off a cliff for a joke about recycling.
In footage shared by the Asociación Unificada de Guardias Civiles, or the Unified Association of Civil Guards Spain, last week that has been going viral online, the man could be seen pushing the device off the edge of a cliff as a man off-camera jokingly says, “Recycling.”
In a separate video, the man could be seen being made to carry the device back up the cliff after being ordered by police to retrieve it in a punishment being hailed as instant karma online. According to the local authorities, the man has since been fined 45,000 euros.
Siri tells me €45,000 is currently $50,000.
