The New York Times reports:
It’s OVER!! The United States is back in the World Cup final! The United States returned to the World Cup final with a thrilling 2-1 victory over England on Tuesday in Lyon, France. Christen Press, a surprise starter for an injured Megan Rapinoe, and Alex Morgan, on her 30th birthday, scored for the Americans. It is the Americans’ third straight trip to the final; they can claim their record fourth title, and second straight, with a victory on Sunday.
CBS News reports:
Vying for their third consecutive Women’s World Cup final appearance, the USWNT went ahead 2-1 in the 31st minute, taking its second lead of the day when Alex Morgan, who was celebrating her 30th birthday, put her header past England keeper Carly Telford. But it didn’t just do that. No, it took a lead and then celebrated that lead with Morgan pretending to — wait for it — sip a cup of tea … against England!
