Atlanta’s CBS News affiliate reports:
Former Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams will serve as a Grand Marshal in Atlanta’s Gay Pride Parade. In a video posted to her Twitter account, Abrams said it was an honor to be chosen after 50 years of work from the LGBTQ community.
“We’ve come a long way on that journey,” Abrams said. “But Americans can still be fired from their jobs simply because of who they are, or who they love.” Abrams’ star continues to rise in Democratic circles as she mulls another shot at the Governor’s Mansion in 2022 or a potential presidential run in 2020.
?The spirit of #Stonewall50 lives in all of us, and I will continue to be your ally every step of the way, using my voice to lift up others. Happy #Pride, and see you in the parade!? pic.twitter.com/INb0apRWZ6
