The BBC reports:
Mark Field has been suspended as a Foreign Office minister after grabbing a female Greenpeace activist at a black-tie City dinner. The MP has apologised for confronting Janet Barker and marching her away as protesters interrupted a speech by Chancellor Philip Hammond.
But he said he had been “genuinely worried” she may have been armed. Ms Barker told the BBC Mr Field should “reflect on what he did” and suggested he “go to anger management classes”.
Footage of the incident involving Mr Field has been widely shared on social media, with several Labour politicians calling for him to be sacked. A Downing Street spokeswoman said Prime Minister Theresa May had “seen the footage” and “found it very concerning”.
In this longer version of the video, you can see the woman apparently posing no immediate threat as she passes behind Mark Field. He marches her out of the room by her neck. I wasn’t there, so I can’t say she didn’t pose a risk, but it looks heavy handed. pic.twitter.com/zX2BtcPW4t

Take Jo Cox’s name out of your fucking mouth when you’re defending a violent man grabbing a woman by the throat when she made him feel a bit uncomfortable at a corporate dinner. The person who murdered Jo Cox was more similar to Mark Field than to a climate activist.

Really enjoying all the contrarian takes of why “grabbing a woman engaged in an entirely peaceful protest by the neck” is actually VERY cool and in no way evidence that Mark Field is a fucking weird, violent man

Notable how many Tories defending Mark Field on the basis that “she could have been armed” just sat there when that comedian approached May during her conference speech. And when I say “how many”, I mean: it was literally all of them. All of them just sat there.

“There were over 300 people in that room and there was only one that reacted in that way.”
