The Orlando Sentinel reports:
President Trump declared Friday on Twitter that he will launch his 2020 run for president run at a campaign rally in Orlando on June 18. The move highlights the critical importance of the I-4 Corridor and Florida, which is expected to be a key battleground state as Trump seeks a second term.
The campaign inked a deal Friday to rent the Amway Center for the event for $145,000, said Cassandra Lafser, a spokeswoman for Buddy Dyer. While he’s held rallies elsewhere in Central Florida, it will be Trump’s first in deeply Democratic downtown Orlando. However, he’ll likely draw thousands of supporters from other parts of the region and state.
The arena is owned by the city of Orlando and the DeVos family-founded Amway company has a 10-year naming rights deal.
I will be announcing my Second Term Presidential Run with First Lady Melania, Vice President Mike Pence, and Second Lady Karen Pence on June 18th in Orlando, Florida, at the 20,000 seat Amway Center. Join us for this Historic Rally! Tickets: https://t.co/1krDP2oQvG
