The New York Daily News reports:
“Pharma Bro” Martin Shkreli has been transferred out of his low-security prison and hauled back to Brooklyn after a report he was still running his business and tweeting with a contraband cell phone.
Shkreli, 36, who’s serving seven years in a federal prison for defrauding investors, has been moved from the prison at Fort Dix in New Jersey to the Metropolitan Detention Center in downtown Brooklyn, according to federal Bureau of Prisons records.
His lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, told CNBC he’ll remain there until his transfer to a prison in Allenwood, Penn.
A Bureau of Prisons spokesman said “we do not share the reasons why a specific inmate was transferred to a particular correctional institution.”
However, the spokesman said that generally speaking, “there are number of factors that must be considered.” Those include “the level of security and supervision the inmate requires, medical and programming needs, and other considerations.”
