Via press release from hate group leader Brian Brown:
When Buttigieg announced in 2015 that he was gay, Pence was asked by the media for his reaction. He commented, “I hold Mayor Buttigieg in the highest personal regard. I see him as a dedicated public servant and a patriot.” Last week Buttigieg repaid Pence’s kindness with a slap in the face, accusing him of intolerance. He also slapped all of us who believe in the sanctity of marriage as the union of a man and a woman. He said, “That’s the thing I wish the Mike Pences of the world would understand. That if you got a problem with who I am, your problem is not with me — your quarrel, sir, is with my creator.”
Mr. Mayor, let me firstly say that we don’t have a problem with ‘who you are;’ we have a problem with what you believe and your insistence that your beliefs be imposed on the rest of society. Secondly, your Creator did not make you gay. Supporters of marriage, like Vice President Pence, are not out campaigning against gays and lesbians for ‘who they are.’ Our cause is not condemning homosexuals, it’s upholding marriage. NOM has always maintained that gays and lesbians are free to live their lifestyle as they choose, but they are not free to redefine marriage for all of society.
NOM is committed to leading the fight to restore marriage to America’s laws. With two new justices on the US Supreme Court thanks to President Trump, justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh, we believe that we now have a pro-marriage majority on the Court. We are actively considering how, and when, to seek to bring marriage back before the US Supreme Court where we will vigorously argue that the imposition of gay marriage be reversed. But for us to have any realistic chance to act in the near future, we need to have the strong, determined backing of supporters like you. Will you stand with us to defend marriage and explore legal options to restore marriage to our nation’s laws?
As usual, Brown’s missive contains more than a dozen separate links to NOM’s donation page.
