Playbill reports:
The party is back on—this time on the small screen. Mart Crowley’s 1968 play The Boys in the Band, which received its Broadway premiere in a starry staging last year, will be adapted for Netflix.
The project hails from Ryan Murphy, who produced the revival alongside David Stone (also attached to the film version with Ned Martel), as the producer-creator continues his new pact with the streaming service.
The full cast of the Joe Mantello-helmed Broadway production, including Jim Parsons, Zachary Quinto, Andrew Rannells, and Matt Bomer, will reprise their performances. Mantello will also direct the movie, expected to begin production mid-July in Los Angeles and drop on the streaming service in 2020.
