Via email from hate group leader Brian Brown:
Legislation pending in Congress would make showing support for marriage as solely the union of one man and one woman to be illegal. Under HR 5, the grossly misnamed “Equality Act,” holding the view that marriage should only be between a man and a woman would constitute sex discrimination against someone who is gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender.
NOM has launched a petition to Congress opposing HR 5. Please add your name to the thousands of people who have already signed the petition. We need to deluge members of Congress with messages opposed to this outrageous legislation that amounts to a direct attack on the religious beliefs of millions of Americans.
As bad as it is in declaring that demonstration of support for marriage amounts to illegal sex discrimination under federal law, there are also a lot of other problems with HR 5. It’s a thinly veiled attempt to reverse the tremendous victory we helped win last year at the US Supreme Court in the case of Christian baker Jack Phillips who declined to design a wedding cake for a same-sex couple because of his religious beliefs in traditional marriage.
This might be Brown’s most insane lie ever.
