Talking Points Memo reports:
Prospective Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg on Wednesday admonished President Trump for his latest attack on John McCain, accusing the president of going after the late senator for attention.
Trump received multiple deferments from the draft during the Vietnam War and did not serve in the military. The New York Times reported late last year that a family doctor diagnosed Trump with bone spurs as a “favor” to his family.
When a president (who faked a disability in order to avoid serving) attacks a departed war hero, it’s for attention.
We should honor the late Senator McCain, and also follow his example by focusing not on the behavior of the president but on the future of our country.
