New Book Details Trump’s Rampant Golf Cheating: He Cheats While You’re Watching And Then Lies About It

The Associated Press reports:

If you’re lucky enough to play a round of golf with the president, make sure you double check the scorecard. A new book, “Commander in Cheat: How Golf Explains Trump,” by New York Times best-selling author and longtime Sports Illustrated columnist Rick Reilly is described as “an uproarious indictment of Donald Trump’s lying, cheating, and poor sportsmanship.”

The book features interviews from dozens of professional and amateur golfers, caddies and celebrity partners and opponents detailing the egregious nature of Trump’s cheating on the golf course throughout the years. Reilly, who has played numerous rounds of golf with Trump firsthand, goes as far as to say the president “shamelessly cheats at golf, lies about it, sues over it, bullies with it, and profits off it.”

The New York Post reports:

“To say ‘Donald Trump cheats’ is like saying ‘Michael Phelps swims,’” writes Reilly. “He cheats at the highest level. He cheats when people are watching and he cheats when they aren’t. He cheats whether you like it or not. He cheats because that’s how he plays golf … if you’re playing golf with him, he’s going to cheat.”

Reilly recount some of the president’s worst cons on the course, starting with his declared handicap of 2.8. In layman’s terms, the lower the handicap, the better the player. Jack Nicklaus, winner of a record 18 major golf titles and generally considered the greatest golfer in the history of the game, has a handicap of 3.4.

Nicklaus’ handicap is listed on the same Golf Handicap and Information Network website used by Trump, where players post their scores. “If Trump is a 2.8,” writes Reilly, “Queen Elizabeth is a pole vaulter.”

The Independent reports:

ESPN football commentator Mike Trico claims to have witnessed Trump deliberately sabotage their games in order to win. During one game with Trump, Trico claims to have hit a 230-yard 3-wood towards an elevated green which wasn’t visible. If you aren’t into golf, let’s just say that is a very impressive shot.

Yet when Trico approached the green he couldn’t find the ball at all and eventually noticed it sitting in a bunker. “Trump’s caddy came up to me and said, ‘You know that shot you hit on the par 5? It was about 10 feet from the hole. Trump threw it in the bunker. I watched him do it.’”
