The Wall Street Journal reports:
President Trump on Tuesday knocked a bipartisan deal to avert a government shutdown while providing some funding for barriers along the U.S.-Mexico border. “I can’t say I’m happy. I can’t say I’m thrilled,” Trump told reporters during a Cabinet meeting.
He did not say whether he would sign or veto the proposal but added he would hold a meeting to discuss it later. The proposal would provide $1.375 billion in funding for roughly 55 miles of new barriers along the southern border, well short of the $5.7 billion Trump demanded.
NEW: President Trump says he reviewed the tentative congressional border security deal last night:
“I can’t say I’m happy, I can’t say I’m thrilled,” he says, but asserts that the wall will be built.
