Nashville’s CBS affiliate reports:
Tennessee legislators have introduced two new bills, both centered on adoption. One of the bills, HB0836 filed by Rep. Tim Rudd, states that it “prohibits a private licensed child-placing agency from being required to perform, assist, consent to, refer, or participate in any child placement that would violate the agency’s written religious or moral convictions.”
It was introduced on Feb. 5. The other bill, SB 0848 introduced by Sen. Joey Hensley and Rep. John Ragan, was filed for introduction on Feb. 6. It states that “a child-placing agency shall not be required to provide adoption services that conflict with the agency’s sincerely held religious beliefs.”
From a March 2017 JMG report:
Tennessee state Sen. Joey Hensley, the notorious “Christian family values” crusader, has been named in the divorce filings for a local couple, both of whom claim he’s been fucking the wife for three years.
Hensley has been divorced four times. In 2015 his most recent ex-wife took out an order of protection against him after she claimed he deliberately hit her twice with his car.
There’s also this charming tidbit via Wikipedia: “For several years, Hensley attempted to pass a bill allowing college counselors to refuse to serve LGBT students who are considering suicide. This bill was eventually signed into law in 2016.”
Juicy un-Christian fuckery details (his cousin!) are at the second link above. Hensley was also the sponsor of Tennessee’s infamous “Don’t Say Gay” bill and authored a bill which would have declared children conceived via artificial insemination to be illegitimate.
