Parking App Deploys Robot To Hold Your Space

Axios reports:

Here’s a potential time-saver this Black Friday: a smartphone app that will deploy a robot to hold a parking space for you at the mall. MyPark is a Miami-based parking reservation service that deploys mobile space blockers to hold spots for customers willing to pay a few dollars for the convenience. The app triggers a pop-up rectangle that blocks other cars from parking in the reserved space. When the rightful renter arrives, it folds down flat so they can drive over it.

Forbes reports:

MyPark’s major mall relationship is with Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group, the largest mall operator in the United States. MyPark is also in other nationally recognized properties outside the Simon portfolio, such as the Mall of America. In total, it’s in five states within the contiguous U.S., plus Puerto Rico. Parking space rental rates typically range between $1 and $3 for the first two hours with additional charges per hour thereafter.
