Billboard Magazine reports:

The Kennedy Center Honors have announced Cher, Reba McEntire, composer Philip Glass, jazz sax musician Wayne Shorter, and the Hamilton musical as their esteemed 2018 honorees.

The annual ceremony in Washington, D.C. recognizes artists who have made extraordinary contributions to culture, and this year marks the first time the organization will honor an entire work along with individuals.

Hamilton co-creators Lin-Manuel Miranda, director Thomas Kail, and choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler will receive “unique Kennedy Center Honors as trailblazing creators of a transformative work that defies category,” the press statement reads.
