NEW YORK CITY: Top Cop Steps Down Amid Probe For Ordering Lights And Sirens Escort For Rush Limbaugh

The New York Daily News reports:

The Port Authority’s top cop has filed for retirement — weeks after it was revealed he ordered a police escort for lefty-hating talk show host Rush Limbaugh, officials said. Michael Fedorko stepped down after nine years as Port Authority superintendent, the agency said in a statement.

The Port Authority had opened an internal investigation into the alleged lights-and-sirens police escort for Limbaugh from Newark Liberty Airport to Manhattan on April 12. Limbaugh boasted about his free ride a day later.

“So they sent the superintendent of the Port Authority to Newark to meet me for lights and sirens into Manhattan to make sure I got there in time,” Limbaugh told his listeners. “And we did. We pulled in right as the reception and cocktail period was ending at 7 and everybody was being seated. “
