Matt Bomer makes his Broadway debut with the 50th anniversary revival of Mart Crowley’s The Boys in the Band, now in previews at the Booth Theatre before an official opening May 31. As the actor told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, he feels like this play is one of importance. “It’s about a group of gay men pre-Stonewall who gather in an apartment, because it’s illegal for them to celebrate together in public to celebrate their friend’s birthday,” he said. “Slowly over the course of the evening — as more alcohol is imbibed — things start to go off the rails and it takes a sharp, dark turn.”
Watch the clip as Bomer recounts being naked on stage because he forget to set out a towel for his shower scene. Sadly, this was not on the night that I attended.
