ALABAMA: Televangelist Qualifies In Gubernatorial Race reports:

Evangelical preacher Scott Dawson sent in his qualification papers to run for governor as a Republican during an appearance Thursday on the “Rick and Bubba Show.” Dawson, who announced in the summer that he would seek the state’s highest office, has been a friend of the show, and co-host Rick Burgess vouched for the Birmingham-based preacher’s integrity on the air.

Dawson filed electronically, paying the more than $2,400 qualifying fee online as Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill joined him in the “Rick and Bubba” studio in Vestavia Hills. The gubernatorial candidate said he was running on a platform of putting morality back in the governor’s mansion, alluding to the downfalls of former Govs. Robert Bentley and Don Siegelman.
