The Daily Beast reports:
Celebrity chef José Andrés says he was asked to leave the after-party of the annual Alfalfa Club dinner in D.C. on Saturday night, apparently after Ivanka Trump complained about his presence.
Andrés, an outspoken critic of President Trump, took to Twitter to question why he was booted from the event at Cafe Milano after initially being welcomed as a guest.
“’Everyone’ welcome to the after-party, but I’m not allowed in? Is (sic) because Ivanka Trump told you so?” Andrés wrote, telling the owner, Franco Nuschese, “You should be ashamed of yourself.”
Andres made global news recently due to his campaign to feed Puerto Rico’s hurricane victims.
In a new low for Washington, yesterday @chefjoseandres was asked to leave the Alfalfa dinner after-party at @CafeMilanoDC by its owner, Franco Nuschesse, apparently because his presence made Ivanka Trump uncomfortable (Cafe Milano is the watering hole of the Trump Admin).

.@chefjoseandres has more sway among restaurant goers in Washington, DC than Franco Nuschesse or Ivanka Trump, he doesn’t want to boycott @CafeMilanoDC because it would affect its hard working staff. This is a good point. Still, Franco Nuschesse should be asked to explain.

Unbelievable! I’ve been to @CafeMilanoDC with Jose Andres and had the dinner comped by Franco, because they are friends. Now asked to do the Trump’s dirty work and kick him out. Only in Washington. Correction, only Franco Nuschesse. Anyone else would have better sense.

Loathsome. A grotesque betrayal of a true patriot and hero @chefjoseandres https://t.co/r9E5GmhFGV
