ALABAMA: Police Dismiss Complaint That Roy Moore Illegally Brandished Handgun At Campaign Rally reports:

Roy Moore pulled out a revolver during his pre-election campaign rally in Fairhope Monday, and the action drew national media headlines. It also generated a complaint to the local police department. Fairhope police report that they received a complaint at around 10 p.m. on Tuesday on allegations about the possession of a firearm at a political rally.

Fairhope Police Sgt. Craig Sawyer said Wednesday that the complainant alleged that Moore had violated Alabama law regarding the possession of a firearm by someone participating in a demonstration in a public place, which is a misdemeanor.

“The rally was a ticketed event held on private property, and as such, did not meet the definition of a public place,” Sawyer said in an email to Moore brandished the gun while refuting allegations by Senator Luther Strange’s campaign that he was “soft” on his support of the Second Amendment, which guarantees the right to bear arms.
