Trump: I Have Been Completely Vindicated

Raw Story reports:

President Donald Trump broke his silence on James Comey’s testimony by claiming “total and complete vindication.” The president had been expected to tweet during the former FBI director’s testimony Thursday, but instead his social media account went silent for nearly 48 hours.

Trump’s attorney issued a statement claiming Comey’s testimony proved the president was not under investigation, although the former FBI director promised to go into more detail with senators in a private session. The president characterized the FBI director he fired as a liar, but he also claimed Comey’s testimony had vindicated his own assertions.

More from the Financial Times:

Mr Trump did not specify what he was vindicated from, but the remarks come a day after Mr Comey issued scathing remarks about the former businessman in Congressional testimony. In particular, Mr Comey spoke about numerous one-on-one meeting that he found to be “disturbing”.

The US president added in his early-morning tweet, “WOW, Comey is a leaker!” That appeared to be an allusion to Mr Comey’s remarks that had asked a friend to leak a non-classified memo about a meeting between him and Mr Trump on the hopes that a special prosecutor would be appointed to probe any potential ties between the Trump campaign and the Russian government.
