Resistance Activists Show Force At NYC Pride [VIDEO]

Resistance groups turned out in large numbers at today’s New York City Pride parade, where they were greeted with whistles and roars when they turned the corner onto Christopher Street.

Notable among the groups were Gays Against Guns, who chanted “Fuck The NRA!” and ACT UP, which carried black cardboard coffins adorned with signs warning of the death of Medicare and the Ryan White Act.  The crowd quieted noticeably when marchers shrouded in white veils appeared, each carrying the photo and name of a Pulse Massacre victim.

As in previous years, many New York politicians marched in the parade, each trailed by a large contingent of supporters.  Among those I spotted were Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Mayor Bill de Blasio, Sen. Chuck Schumer, state Sen. Brad Hoylman, state Assemblyman Daniel O’Donnell, New York City Councilman Corey Johnson, and longshot nutjob mayoral candidate Bo Dietl.

I live-streamed some of the march to Facebook, but neglected to save the videos to my phone, hence the shitty compressed videos below. And let’s give a shout-out to all the JMG readers who marched today! So great to see all of you.
