Politico reports:
Republican National Committee Chairman and incoming White House chief of staff Reince Priebus said Wednesday morning that President-elect Donald Trump was never briefed on unverified intelligence suggesting that the Russian government possesses compromising information about him and his campaign, contradicting a CNN report to the contrary.
Reports that Trump and President Barack Obama were briefed on that unverified intelligence, as well as the intelligence itself, are “shameful” and “phony-baloney garbage,” Priebus said Wednesday morning on NBC’s “Today.”
The news that prompted such a strong rebuke from Priebus broke Tuesday night, when CNN reported that both Trump and Obama were briefed on a summary of intelligence suggesting that Russia had actively conspired with the president-elect’s campaign and that the Kremlin had salacious information about Trump.
Priebus noted that Michael Cohen, an attorney for Trump and the Trump Organization, had never been to Prague even though the dossier published by BuzzFeed on Tuesday alleges that he had traveled there to meet with a Russian agent. The incoming chief of staff said he personally examined Cohen’s passport and found no evidence he had been to Prague.
But hang on, it turns out the report was likely referring to a different Michael Cohen.
