“Superstitious” Trump To Hold Small Election Night Party So He Doesn’t Jinx Things With Big Celebration

The Washington Post reports:

Donald Trump, whose campaign has been defined heavily by large rallies in arenas, fairgrounds and stadiums, will spend election night in a more intimate setting: a hotel ballroom in Manhattan. The Republican presidential nominee will hold his election night event at the New York Hilton Midtown, Trump spokesman Jason Miller confirmed Wednesday night.

The hotel is a couple of blocks from Trump Tower, where the Republican launched his campaign last year. But the atrium in Trump Tower is a privately owned public space, making it a problematic spot for a private campaign event. Trump launched his presidential campaign at that spot, but he was fined $10,000 by the city of New York for holding campaign events there. It’s also quite small for an election night event.

Mitt Romney spent $25,000 on a fireworks show over Boston Harbor that never went off in 2012, the year he lost to President Obama. There are no plans for Trump fireworks on Tuesday, the person said. Trump is “superstitious” and doesn’t want to jinx things by planning a big victory celebration, the person added.

Hillary’s election night event will be held about two miles away at the Jacob Javits Convention Center.
