REPORT: Billy Bush Parts Ways With NBC

Fired, pushed, or jumped? Business Insider reports:

Billy Bush is leaving NBC after his involvement in a vulgar tape with Donald Trump that leaked Friday, CNN’s Brian Stelter is reporting. Bush has served as a cohost on NBC’s “Today” show in the 9 a.m. hour.

Previously, he was the co-host of syndicated entertainment news show, “Access Hollywood.” Bush is featured heavily with Trump in a video from 2005 that surfaced on Friday . The recording shows Trump, who was newly married to Melania Trump at the time, boasting of trying to sleep with a married woman. Bush is heard egging him on.

In a desperate bid to save face, “Access Hollywood” producers had hoped to edit now-disgraced “Today” host Billy Bush out of an explosive, lewd tape with Donald Trump that has rocked the 2016 presidential election, according to People magazine.

But the move by the NBC-owned program, raised even more questions about how much NBC News knew about the tape and when they knew it. Multiple sources have said both “Access Hollywood” and NBC News producers were working on reports about the tape when they were scooped on their own story Friday by The Washington Post.

Tuesday, NBC News communications executive Mark Kornblau — who typically speaks for the network’s news boss, Andy Lack – blasted a tweet at respected ProPublica senior editor and Columbia journalism professor Charles Ornstein denying the People report.

“NOT true of @NBC News — no way, no how that would have happened,” Kornblau wrote. Under fire from media reporters, Kornblau later tweeted: “People report is 100% false. No chance that tape would ever have been edited by @NBCNews. Period.”
