Tennessee GOP Falls For Voter Fraud Troll [UPDATED]

Yesterday homcons Matt Drudge and Jim Hoft, the Ohio Secretary of State, and half of the right wing blogosphere fell for a Twitter troll who claimed to be an Ohio mailman who was destroying absentee ballots marked for Trump. Late last night the Tennessee state Republican Party fell for a similar prank. Via Talking Points Memo:

The Tennessee GOP retweeted an image made by comedian Rob Whisman, in which he throws up a peace sign in front of a stack of IDs. “New fakes are in. ready to make hillary president,” the post reads. The Tennessee GOP shared the image on its official feed as proof of what voters can expect to see come Election Day. “Media says voter fraud doesn’t exist…So what’s that then?!” the caption reads.

The responses to their outraged tweet are pretty sweet.

UPDATE: Folks, a reader points out that the above-linked article is incorrect. This is NOT the official Twitter account for the Tennessee GOP, whose latest tweet is below. I’ve sent a DM to Talking Points Memo to let them know. Neither account is verified, but I should have caught that. Interestingly, the first account has four times the followers of the official one and uses the state seal as its avatar.
