Raw Story recaps:
Following up on Donald Trump’s assertion that he spoke to a top cop in Chicago, Late Night host Stephen Colbert claimed to have tracked down the senior police officer who reportedly told the GOP presidential nominee that the police should be allowed to get “tougher” with suspects.
Appearing on The O’Reilly Factor with host Bill O’Reilly over a week ago, Trump insisted that he spoke with a “top cop” in Chicago recently, although Chicago police officials later denied any meeting happened.
“All I know is this,” Trump claimed. “I went to a top police officer in Chicago, who is not the police chief, and I could see by the way he was dealing with his people, he was a rough, tough guy, they respected him greatly.”
“We here at the Late Show, we’ve done a little digging, and that cop is here tonight,” Colbert began before introducing “Officer Rod Johnson.”
