BOOM. Another win for Roberta Kaplan. Chris Geidner reports at Buzzfeed:
A federal appeals court on Friday denied Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant’s request that the state be allowed to enforce a recently passed anti-LGBT religious exemption law while the state appeals a trial court’s order halting enforcement of that law. The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, in denying the request for a stay pending appeal, also denied the governor’s request to expedite the appeal.
HB 1523 allows individuals and businesses to discriminate against married gays or cohabitating couples on the basis of “sincerely held religious beliefs or moral convictions.”
Judge Reeves' injunction of HB 1523 will remain in effect-Law endorsing LGBT discrimination in Miss will stay dead https://t.co/NcHoRMTcmN
