Perkins: It’s Disgusting When Obama Cites Scripture

Via press release from hate group leader Tony Perkins:

This week, the president is back at it, using his Bible of convenience to justify his outrageous decree on public school bathrooms and showers. To the disgust of most Christians, Obama insisted that “my reading of Scripture tells me that [the] Golden Rule is pretty high up there in terms of my Christian belief.” Let me make a suggestion to the president: before quoting the Good Book, he should try reading what it actually says. A passage that is more relevant to the agenda that he and his administration have been consistently pushing is 1 Thessalonians 4, where Paul was quite clear where God stands on the issue:

“It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own bodyin a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister. The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit.” (NIV)

Folks, if the policies of this president and the anti-biblical environment they’ve fostered don’t drive you to your knees, I don’t know what will. As Jesus instructed us in Luke 18, we “always ought to pray and not lose heart.” Now is not the time to throw in the towel or throw up our hands in despair. Now is the time to redouble our efforts in prayer for our families, for our communities, and our nation. All God needs to revive America are faithful followers seeking His face and forgiveness.

call-2-fall-10-bannerOn July 3rd, FRC will be leading the nation in that cry of humble repentance in churches from coast to coast as part of Call2Fall. There’s nothing fancy about it. All we ask is that you set aside some time during worship for your congregation to get on their faces before the Lord and ask Him to renew our land. As God tells us in 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land.” Click here to let us know you’re “in!”
