Six Months Since Last Hillary Press Conference

Hillary Clinton hasn’t conducted a formal press conference in six months and the media is pouring on the pressure. Via The Hill:

Clinton’s last open press conference came on Dec. 4 in Iowa. NBC News reported that she took seven questions. The lack of access has angered reporters tasked with covering Clinton, some of whom have aired their frustrations on Twitter.

Clinton held a handful of press conferences on the campaign trail before December. But her infrequent press availabilities prompted The Washington Post to create a web page that timed how long it had been since she had spoken to the press.

The Clinton campaign did not respond to The Hill‘s request for comment about press conferences. But one Clinton ally reiterated a common viewpoint among her allies that the media will not treat her fairly, should she choose to have one.

“There’s no benefit. It will only hurt her,” the ally said. The ally said Clinton would be peppered with questions about her private email server during her time at State, why she hasn’t been able to put away White House rival Bernie Sanders, her likability and more.

Instead of traditional open pressers, Clinton has focused on one-on-one interviews, such as those she’s done recently with Rachel Maddow and Ellen DeGeneres.179
