NEW MEXICO: Anti-Trump Protesters Clash With Riot Police Outside Albuquerque Rally [VIDEO]

USA Today reports:

Police in Albuquerque donned riot gear and fired smoke grenades Tuesday night after hundreds of protesters threw rocks, bottles and burning Trump T-shirts outside the New Mexico convention center where the presumptive Republican presidential candidate was speaking.

Several police officers were treated for injuries after being hit by rocks and at least one person was arrested as protesters crashed through barriers around the Albuquerque Convention Center, the police department said on Twitter.

The developments were part of a night of clashes between anti-Trump demonstrators and authorities as Trump addressed a crowd estimated at up to 8,000. Trump dismissed the chaos, tweeting: “Great rally in New Mexico, amazing crowd!”

Later he tweeted a more stern review of the crowd outside the rally.

“The protesters in New Mexico were thugs who were flying the Mexican flag,” Trump said. “The rally inside was big and beautiful, but outside, criminals!”
