Trending Today On Twitter: #CruzSexScandal

Teabagistan is aflame today over the National Enquirer’s claim that Ted Cruz made sexytime with five women not married to him in Jesus’ name. They write:

Presidential candidate Ted Cruz is trying to survive an explosive “dirt file” on the finger-wagging conservative senator! And the new issue of The National ENQUIRER — on newsstands now — reveals how the reports say the staunch Republican is hiding FIVE different mistresses! “Private detectives are digging into at least five affairs Ted Cruz supposedly had,” claimed a Washington insider. “The leaked details are an attempt to destroy what’s left of his White House campaign!” The ENQUIRER reports that Cruz’s claimed mistresses include a foxy political consultant and a high-placed D.C. attorney!

More from Jezebel:

Yes, the National Enquirer is often garbage, but it has successfully outed the affairs of past presidential candidates, including John Edwards and Gary Hart—in other words, we’re allowed to take a longer look at this one, thank God. Over the past two days, #CruzSexScandal has erupted on Twitter; numerous sources have claimed to have identified the women involved (they include one detestable Republican spokesperson), while others have confirmed the rumors. None of these sources are independently reliable, and the whole body of information points to a textbook case of mass hysteria, and/or my favorite sex scandal of all time.

Jezebel notes that Breitbart is pointedly ignoring the story, which is more than curious for an outlet “that has morphed into a Trump newsletter.” But Breitbart‘s silence could stem from the Twitter rumor that one of Cruz’s alleged former mistresses is none other than Trump spokeswoman Katrina “Bullet Necklace” Pierson.

From Heavy.com:

While the Enquirer ran pixelated photos of the women it claimed were having affairs, it didn’t take long for Twitter to start digging into their possible identities. Internet radio host Bob Zicari posted the following to his Twitter account shortly after the story broke. The three of five women allegedly involved so far include: Trump spokesperson Katrina Pierson, former Carly Fiorina staffer Sarah Isgur Flores, and former Cruz communications director Amanda Carpenter. While it bears repeating that no one has proof of anything, this speculation turns the stakes of the alleged affairs from scandalous to criminal. Although they’re rarely enforced, the law allows for criminal prosecution for official campaigns coordinating with their own PACs, as a “hush money” payout would seem to be.
