Chris Johnson reports at the Washington Blade:
Days after the Human Rights Campaign endorsed Hillary Clinton in her bid for the White House, same-sex couples that sued for the right to marry in Kentucky announced they’re behind Bernard Sanders.
One of the couples is Timothy Love and Larry Ysunza, who were plaintiffs in the Love v. Beshear lawsuit seeking the right to marry in Kentucky. After being together for 35 years, the couple was able to wed when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of same-sex marriage last year.
Couples that endorsed Sanders included those who sued Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis after she refused to issue marriage licenses in the aftermath of the decision: David Ermold and David Moore; Carman and Shannon Wampler-Collins; April Miller and Karen Roberts; and Jody Fernandez and Kevin Holloway.
Love and Ysunza appeared to have endorsed Sanders in a joint statement on Facebook posted on the page of a local Kentucky group supporting the candidate. Love confirmed the authenticity of the statement to the Washington Blade.
The couple notes that they volunteered for Bill Clinton’s 1992 campaign.
