HOUSTON: Fire Guts Eagle Nightclub [VIDEO]

Houston’s CBS affiliate reports:

Investigators are looking into what started a fire Saturday afternoon at The Eagle, a popular neighborhood bar in Montrose. Dozens of firefighters battled the blaze for hours, as flames kept sparking around the roof. A handful of customers and employees were inside when the fire started. “There was a flicker of lights and then all of a sudden I smelled the smoke, turned around to my friend, said ‘It smells likes something’s burning,'” said customer John Trujillo.

“That’s when the manager ran out and before you know it, the rest of us took off and we noticed all the smoke coming out of the roof.” No one was injured, but there is serious smoke and flame damage to the second and third floors. The main business is on the first floor and that just has water damage. The owner, Jay Allen, is already planning to rebuild.
